Summary | 0000004: Easier way to take new keybingins in to use
Description | When new keybinding are added, for existing users it's up to them to e.g. monitor change logs or release notes to discover added keybinding options and take them in to use. In some cases added keybindings are such that they should be made available to users automatically.
Additional Information | New keybindings in the default configuration can't of course be merged as such for every user, but if the new keybinding that will also be defined in the default configurations is free in users configuration, it could be automatically/optionally added to user keybindings.

In r3577, default keybindings are always loaded on top of existing keybindings - if a key hasn't been used yet, it is added automatically. If anyone complains about keys being added automatically, I guess we could make it optional, but for now I'd say it's good as it is. |

After resolving issue 0000477, I wonder whether alternate bindings for shortcuts that already have a binding should be imported as they are now - one could say that if there's already a key assigned to some function, adding another binding could be confusing. But on the other hand, this will ensure that we can e.g. tell a person to use a certain key combination and unless they use it for something else, it will always work. |
|
Starting from r7294, default shortcuts are now only imported iff the user has not specified their own shortcut yet. |
