Summary | 0001582: YM2612 support
Description | So everyone knows that OpenMPT has OPL3/YMF262 support, right? Well, I suggest that Saga Musix add OPN2/YM2612 support to OpenMPT, for MPTM files.

Tested code revision (in case you know it)
The existing OPL2/OPL3 support is provided by an implementation of the Opal OPL3 emulator (so ScreamTracker 3 modules can make use of the OPL2 portion). What would be the benefit of adding another FM-based synth? From my understanding, OpenMPT does not aim to be a multi FM synth tracker, and programs like Deflemask exist for a reason. |

OPL support was a requirement for full S3M support. If you want to use any other synthesizers, use a VST plugin. OpenMPT is not a chip tracker like Deflemask that tries to support as many chips as possible. We already have a mechanism for supporting any chip, and that's through plugins. |
