Summary | 0001508: Highlight selected instrument in the pattern
Description | It would be helpful if whatever instrument is currently selected in the drop-down box in Pattern Editor would highlight somehow in the pattern. Example: if you have Inst. 40 selected, all commands for inst. 40 would highlight in the pattern editor. Or maybe if you hold a key down, it would momentarily highlight? I find myself frequently darting my eyes around looking for my instrument. The Find/Replace dialogue isn't user friendly and it only jumps to the first instance, instead of highlighting ALL instances in a pattern. I think this would make workflow smoother and more user-friendly, especially for new trackers who may not be keeping their channels organized. :)

Interesting idea - a bit similar to brace matching or variable highlighting in code editors I guess. Might not be able to implement this efficiently at the moment though as it would potentially require a full pattern redraw with every navigation step, and currently OpenMPT tries to do minimal redraws when navigating. |
