Summary | 0000869: Change default sample volume for MOD's
Description | Currently, MOD files, when loaded, have a default sample volume (the slider on the General tab) that seems to change based on the amount of channels that the MOD has (for example, a 4-channel MOD loads with a volume of 64, a 6-channel sets it to 42, and an 8-channel sets it at 32.) I know that the sample volume is not saved in MOD files, so what I'd like is some way to adjust the setting manually, so all MOD's import with the sample volume of my choice.

I find this extremely dangeous, because people will abuse this. Just as an example: Unhacked XM files also cannot store this value, and FT2 only has a global amplification setting that is stored in its configuration file. As a result, there are XM files which distort in any player including a default FT2 setup because some people changed this amplification value and while the modules might have sounded okay on their setup, they now sound broken everywhere else. The same would happen as soon as such an option existed for MOD files in OpenMPT. |
