Summary0000293: Fold/hide channel(s)
Description

I'd like to request having channel folding/hiding.

Particularly with parameter control events, for example, I have to wade and scroll through 36 tracks of PCs data to find 12 tracks of music.

Additional Information

It is also much easier to get around the pattern to edit it if you temporarily fold unneeded parts (for example, hiding everything but bass, rhythm and drum tracks). If my screen only views 16 channels and those bass, rhythm and drum tracks are spread over 18 channels, it is difficult to work with as I can't see them all together at a glance and need to use side scrolling and additional clicks.

This has long been on the wish list for MPT vets, and after looking at the code many moons ago, i was able to see why it hasn't been implemented. It would take a lot of time, testing, and may require an overhaul even Jojo doesn't want to get into. It would be the equivalent of wanting to build an additional room in your house -- you'd have to tear down and restructure the existing architecture, make sure your addition is not going to screw up the functionality and engineering of the other rooms, and adheres to building codes. It can be done, and if Jojo were being paid, MAYBE he'd try to tackle it, but the poor guy's got a life.
For now we will probably have to just deal with what we have. Not trying to dash hopes, but just be realistic....
