I'm pretty confident that you have just stepped over a bug that I have fixed earlier today, which is not exclusive to DMF files. Please try if this still happens when using OpenMPT 1.20.00.41 (http://sagagames.de/stuff/mptrack.exe), and if it still does, please provide an example file that crashes OpenMPT. Since I have practically leeched the complete DMF archive from ModLand when implementing the DMF loader, I doubt that there's something else that could crash the loader, hehe...
