The idea came to me while I was dealing with a number of VSTs that didn't have multiple midi channels, easy patch switching method (or any at all).
Running multiple instances of some of these VSTs results in a substantial performance hit.
The bypass function is already implemented in OpenMPT, so hypothetically, it can be evaluated into the form of a an effect command.
This would be immensely useful both for composition and live plays.
