Summary0000168: Background Image
Description

Instead of (or perhaps in addition to) changing the colors, it would be interesting to be able to use a background image that displays in the pattern editor (perhaps as a watermark). This way, instead of LPChip's colors looking like Resident Evil, he could have a screenshot of one of the games in the series as a watermark when in the pattern editor* (where the image is automatically resized to suit the currently used screen resolution) (meaning that the image would look different at a resolution of 1,920 pixels by 1,080 pixels than it would at a resolution of 1,024 pixels by 768 pixels).

*LPChip…Resident Evil: I have no idea if he plays any of those games. This is simply an example. Perhaps a more accurate example is my version having a picture of Daisy (or her cruise ship) as a watermark rather than the pattern editor using colors similar to hers. That took a fair amount of time to accomplish.

Steps To Reproduce

Here is something that would also be great, but if it is not implemented, that is not a big deal. I have noticed that with the later versions of the application, in addition to it "running out of memory" it returns a runtime error and then terminates. This is a problem when I am trying to make many of my songs and it would be great if this did not occur.

Won't be implemented, it would even require a full rewrite of the pattern drawing code. Which will certainly not happen for a fun feature.

Also, please stop abusing the ticket system to request two things in one ticket. Concerning your "out of memory" error, OpenMPT just shows crash messages if it would have crashed otherwise as well, i.e. it will not terminate if it doesn't have to.
