Summary0001404: Multiple pattern selections
Description

It would be useful to create multiple simultaneous pattern selections by pressing the Ctrl key. Ctrl is used for copying (instead of moving) pattern selections with drag&drop, but it doesn't do anything sensible when pressing the key and making a new selection. So this new feature could be added without sacrificing existing workflows.
