At the moment, IT is still the default file format for interoperability reasons. For people who want to interact with the rest of the tracked music world, this is an optimal choice. For people that are not interested in spreading their source files, MPTM would be a more logical choice. As there are good reasons for both formats, there should probably be a choice on the Welcome dialog with a short explanation of the advantages of each format. Maybe we can even offer MOD/XM/S3M in addition to IT.
