Summary0001372: Channel coloration default/templates
Description

I'm intrigued with the new channel coloration that will be available in 1.30, as described here.

However I can see myself using this coloration only if I can set default Channel colors, as well as load and save channel color templates. That way, for example, my drum channels can all be one color every time I load a module template. I also tend to use certain channels always for the same instruments, like drums get chs 1-5, bass guitar gets ch 6, etc, so I would like MPT to store a default color scheme.

I didn't see any mention of this in the new implementation, so I'm making the request here.

I have briefly thought about that during implementation but isn't this essentially already covered by the fact that there are more general module templates? Is there a good reason to want (from my understanding) e.g. only one module template but apply different channel colors to it?

The problem with having color-specific templates on top of regular templates is that, well, it's really only the colors. Channel names would not be influenced by that. The way I understand it, you would be better off with a regular module template with the colors set up as described above but also have the channel names consistent with the colors (e.g. channel 1-5 would be named "Drums"). Or is there something I missed?

If channel colors are saved with the module then that prevents recoloring when they are reopened.
Which then means that template modules can hold custom channel coloring, resulting in a user's standard palette. Objective satisfied.

So then the only question lies in DEFAULT channel colors, for new modules. In which case, MPT will use these from the preferences or it will be last-used colors. Perhaps an option for either method depending on how the user wants to work?

I think that again extends beyond colors, to general template usage: Should there be an option which remembers the last used template and always uses that? I guess there would be good reasons to do that, not just for channel coloring.

Tried out the new channel coloration function and i prefer the color to stand out more. If its not going to cover the namebox of the channel header (the font background if you will), maybe if it boxes the channel header so its more visible.
But as far as this FR, if channel colors are stored in templates and i dont need default colors, then i'll get used to opening new projects with my template files.

I consider this FR handled!
